Tamara Executive V.P. of City Canyons Records
An avid music fan for life, Tamara Morin's love for music with its rainbow of genres is as varied as the hats she has worn working in themusic industry. On entering the industry, Tamara wanted not just towork in it but to change it to its very roots. The talented Canadians head was stuffed with dreams, idea's that she could change the face of music, and make it kinder, more interactive and exciting for fans and for musicians alike.
A special aim of hers was, and is, to bring talented independent bands to the forefront of the music industry, to make the music they produce a real choice for music fans who are too often force-fed mediocre music that prospers only because the dollars and the power of the major music industry.
In the course of her career, working with an LA based recording studio, Tamara came up with an idea to bring live web cast interactive concerts featuring talented and exciting independent bands into a well-known Chat Program.
Subsequently, always looking for the next challenge, Tamara became an independent promoter and booker, booking talent for radio DJs & talk radio show hosts, booking guests ranging from reality TV stars to some of the biggest names in music.
She then moved her focus to working behind the scenes, producing
radio. When City Canyons Records came along it was an offer she couldn't resist, being able to bring to the world the talented roster of musical artists that populate the critically acclaimed Manhattan-based City
Canyons roster.
"It's the perfect musical marriage," Tamara smiles. "City Canyons is fearless in pursuit of promoting independent music, those of its artists and other independent artists as well. Like me, the label is always looking for ways to bring the best of independent music to the public.
The old music industry is dying. Perhaps the new music industry is being born."
